Mayurbhanj: Despite seat-sharing arrangement with regional party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in Mayurbhanj Parliamentary segment, the Congress has fielded its candidate from Morada Assembly constituency.

On Sunday, the Congress announced Pravash Kar Mohapatra as its candidate from Morada Assembly seat falling under the Mayurbhanj Parliamentary constituency.

Sources said, after discussion between the two parties on the seat sharing arrangement in the district, the JMM had fielded Kalinga Keshari Jena to contest elections from Morada. However, the Congress announced its candidate for the seat yesterday.

“We will adhere to the decision taken by the All India Congress Committee’s (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi and Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee’s (OPCC) chief Niranjan Patnaik," said Pravash Kar Mohapatra adding that the JMM and Congress have come to an agreement on seat-sharing only for the Lok Sabha seat.

The Congress on Sunday had also announced the names of nine more Assembly candidates for Odisha.
