Bhubaneswar: Thick patches of fog will shroud coastal and interior districts of Odisha on January 22 and 23, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar informed on Monday.

"There are chances of dense fog in some coastal and interior pockets like Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Puri, Nayagarh, Sundergarh, Kandhamal, Koraput and Malkangiri on January 22 and 23 morning," said meteorologist Gouranga Charan Behera.

Behera said mercury may plummet in next one or two days and thereafter there will be slight rise in the temperature and dense fog will prevail. The night temperature may fall by 1-3 degree Celsius.

During the foggy weather conditions, visibility will remain within 100 metres which may affect the communication. People need to be more careful while visiting during the foggy weather, he said.

Meanwhile, Malkangiri district today recorded lowest temperature of nine degree Celsius followed by Sundergarh (12 degree C), Koraput (13 degree C), Angul (13.6 degree C) and Sonepur (13.8 degree C). The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded minimum temperature of 17.8 and 15.8 degree Celsius respectively.
