Rourkela city witnessed dense fog early Saturday morning, causing significantly reduced visibility and inconvenience for residents. The thick fog was reported not only in the city but also in nearby areas such as Bisra, Lathikata, Kuarmunda, and Kalunga. The visibility dropped to as low as 50 metres on several routes, making travel challenging, particularly during the early morning hours.
Even at 8 a.m., the fog persisted, forcing motorists to rely on vehicle headlights as a precaution. Despite the low visibility, residents continued with their morning routines and appeared to be enjoying the winter weather. By 9 a.m., the dense fog conditions showed little sign of improvement.

Reports indicate that temperatures in Rourkela have been declining over the past 7–10 days, contributing to the winter chills felt across the city. The cold weather, combined with dense fog, has made commuting difficult, with roads remaining partially obscured.
Drivers and pedestrians have been advised to exercise caution while navigating the roads. While the fog has created certain challenges, residents are making the most of the seasonal weather, balancing safety measures with outdoor activities.
The city is expected to continue experiencing low temperatures and foggy conditions in the coming days.
