Normal life was disrupted in parts of Gajapati district after a thick blanket of fog covered the Mohana region early on Monday morning, severely reducing visibility and affecting road traffic. Heavy to very heavy fog was reported along National Highway 326, causing inconvenience to commuters and motorists.
The stretch connecting Mohana in Gajapati district to Taptapani in neighbouring Ganjam district witnessed particularly dense fog, making driving conditions hazardous. Due to poor visibility, vehicles were forced to move at a very slow pace, with drivers struggling to navigate the road safely. Passenger buses and heavy vehicles, including trucks, were seen proceeding cautiously to avoid accidents, with headlights kept on throughout the affected stretch.
Drivers expressed concern over the sudden drop in visibility, stating that driving had become extremely challenging. “The fog is very dense, and visibility is limited. We are unable to drive beyond 20 to 30 kilometres per hour, but we are trying to move carefully,” said a bus driver.
