Jagatsinghpur: After Kalahandi, the dengue scare has now gripped locals of Kanaguli village under Ersama block of Jagatsinghpur where more than 40 residents have been diagnosed with the disease. The patients have been admitted to hospitals in Paradip and Cuttack after their blood samples confirmed presence of dengue virus.

Although at least four to five patients with symptoms of the disease are being admitted to hospitals every day, the Health Department is yet to take steps to curb the menace, rued locals."I was taken to SCB hospital at Cuttack after being diagnosed with dengue. I returned home after a week but am still feeling unwell," said Heparba Khatua, a patient.

Chief District Medical Officer Ashok Kumar Pattanayak informed that two camps have been set up in the village and members of the camp are visiting every household to create awareness. The situation is under control, he claimed."All adequate measures like setting up of clinics, fogging, provision of chemical dipped mosquito nets and awareness campaign are being done," Pattanayak said.

Earlier this month, at least 82 dengue positive cases were reported at Ladugaon and its neighbouring villages under Koksara block in Kalahandi district.
