Dengue death toll in SCB rises to 5

Cuttack: A dengue patient undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack died today taking the toll in dengue-related deaths to five at the premier state-run hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Soumyaranjan Nayak of Kujanga in Jagatsinghpur district.

According to reports, Nayak was admitted to the hospital and was undergoing treatment in the special dengue ward since September 20. Later, he was shifted to Medicine ward ICU after his condition deteriorated.

With Nayak’s death, the dengue death toll at SCB medical college and hospital here reached five in the last six months.

Earlier, an under-trial prisoner from Rayagada district hospital died while undergoing treatment at SCB on September 10. The deceased Rabindra Nayak was tested dengue positive in Rayagada and was initially shifted to the dengue ward in Berhampur for treatment.
