Kendrapara: With man-animal conflict continuing, residents living on the fringes of the Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara district, have launched an agitation.

As part of their stir, local people demonstrated before the divisional forest office yesterday.

The demonstrators demanded the revision of ex-gratia for death in cases of animal attack, Divisional Forest Officer, Rajnagar Mangrove (Wildlife) Forest Division, Manoj Kumar Mahapatra said.

The people also demanded increase in grants against crop loss, relaxation of fishing prohibition during the breeding and nesting season of turtles and unrestricted entry by local people for collecting forest produce, mahapatra added.
