Kalahandi: Demanding a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in the district, members of the District Lawyers’ Association are observing a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh today.

The members of the committee were seen picketing in front of several offices from early morning today.

Normal life came to a grinding halt in the district due to the shutdown of markets, business establishments, financial institutions, court, government and private offices.

However, educational institutions and vehicular movement have been kept out of the purview of the shutdown.

The bandh called by the lawyers has also gained support of various organisations and political parties in the district.

Meanwhile, adequate security measures have been taken by the concerned district authorities to avoid any untoward incident.
