Samablpur: A 15-member delegation of the Central Action Committee (CAC) will meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on August 6 to discuss their demand for establishment of a permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in Western Odisha. A decision regarding this was taken at a meeting of members of the committee and different bar associations in Sambalpur on Saturday.

The CAC will urge the CM to approach the Centre for the just demands of the Western Odisha people, said Ashok Das, convener of the CAC.

Last month, lawyers in Sambalpur had launched an agitation protesting State and Central governments' indifference towards their long-standing demand of a permanent High Court bench in Western Odisha.

Nearly 150 lawyers were taken into preventive custody following a scuffle with police officials during the protests.
