Deja Vu Moment! Pregnant Woman again Carried on a Sling in Odisha

Malkangiri: Again a déjà vu moment in Malkangiri! Another expectant mother had been carried on a sling as the ambulance failed to reach the spot for the lack of approach road.

As per reports, one Pratima Sahoo from Amlabeta village under Khairput block in Malkangiri district felt labour pain; family members dialled the 108 ambulance service to take her to the hospital. However, the ambulance couldn’t reach the village for lack of motorable road.

Following which, villagers carrying the expectant mother on a makeshift sling had to walk 3 km to reach the nearest hospital, where she delivered a baby girl. Both the mother and her newborn are reportedly stated to be healthy.

Anguished villagers blamed the State Government for frequent reporting of such incidents. They rued over the State Government not taking any concrete measures to ameliorate their sufferings.
