Bhubaneswar: Two bike-borne miscreants opened fire at a businessman and allegedly looted Rs 2.32 lakh from his possession in a daylight robbery at Unit-VI here on Saturday. The victim suffered bullet injuries in chest and has been admitted at a private hospital.
The incident took place at around 11.00am when the armed miscreants shot at the victim who has been identified as Harish Rath, a distributor of Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Sources said Rath was on his way to the bank to deposit the cash.
“The miscreants opened fire at Rath and fled away with the money bag on a black colour bike. The bike had no number plate,” Haladhar Behera, an eyewitness said.
Police have recorded the statement of Rath and search operations are going on to nab the miscreants, said DCP Nitinjeet Singh.
