Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of data entry operators (DEO) are staging a demonstration in front of the State Assembly here seeking regularisation of their jobs.

Members under the aegis of Odisha State Tehsil data entry operator Association have alleged that the government is showing a callous attitude towards their demands as jobs of the data entry operators have not been made permanent even after 12 years of service.

Reportedly, 600 data entry operators were recruited by the state government in 2007 on contractual basis across the state. There is a provision for making the contractual employees permanent after 6 years of service.

Several meetings were held between the association and the state government to resolve the issue but to no avail. As a result the members of the association have resorted to cease work strike.

The association further threatened that they will continue the demonstration until their demands are fulfilled.

“We have been staging demonstration here since November 19. We will continue the agitation until our demands are fulfilled by the government,” Member of Odisha State Tehsil data entry operator Association, Rabirashmi Mahakud said.
