Dama Rout leading anti-corruption crusade against ruling-BJD

Bhubaneswar/Khurda: Senior leader Damodar Rout, who was expelled from the BJD recently, seems to be leading an anti-corruption crusade against his former party. After Mahanga, Nimapara and Cuttack, Rout sharpened his attack on the Odisha government at a Janjagran Mahamenta Samavesh in Khurda. Flanked by parties like Congress, CPI and CPM, Dama once again spewed venom against the State government on Wednesday alleging that the Naveen Patnaik-led State government’s governance is based on corruption and loot.

Addressing the gathering at Tangi in Khurda district, Dama lashed out at the local legislator alleging that while the CM is sitting on a pile of scams, the main face behind all these scams is the local MLA.

Dama also accused the local MLA of being involved in land scam in the region stating that relentless loot is going on in the region.

“The local MLA is not only neglecting the region but has also created an environment of corruption… And for that reason, people of this region have raised their voice and wanted us to be a part of it,” he added.

Odisha Congress chief, Niranjan Patnaik, who also attended the public gathering along with Dama, said, “I have not seen such a corrupt government in the last 50 years.”

On the other hand, the State BJP said that it will continue its campaign against the corrupt BJD government in the State.

“The common man has started raising voice against the Naveen government and the BJP will take the campaign forward against the corrupt Odisha government. Taking into account the sentiments of the people in the State, the BJP will lead the anti-corruption campaign against the ruling-BJD government in Odisha,” said Odisha BJP general secretary, Bhrugu Bauxipatra.

However, BJD spokesperson Amar Satpathy termed the allegations as baseless stating that such frivolous allegations will have no impact on the party’s prospects in the State.

“Those who are making such allegations don’t know the way people of Odisha have accepted the BJD government in the State. Their allegations have no value,” Satpathy said.
