Nayagarh: It sounds like a plot of a Bollywood movie where the men-in-khaki net criminals using bait. This tried and tested method proved successful for Nayagarh SP who managed to nab a middleman who was operating in a clandestine manner outside the Regional Transport Officer's (RTO) office.

As per reports, SP Sashibhusan Satpathy roped in a person as bait to trap middleman Muralidhar Rout who demanded Rs 3,000 for getting a driving licence done.

As per the plan, Satpathy nabbed Rout while he was taking the money from the person who was roped in for the special operation to eliminate middlemen and agents from the RTO office.

It is pertinent to mention here that agents and middlemen had stopped operating from Nayagarh RTO following a sting operation by OTV. However, Rout was making profits by shifting his base outside the RTO's office following the state-wide crackdown launched by Odisha police on middlemen.
“Our modus operandi was different and we are constantly trying to nab the agents,” said Satpathy.

Senior police officials informed that cash, several learners' licences and other documents have been recovered from Rout’s possession.
