Dal scam: HC grants anticipatory bail to 22 accused

The social welfare officers of Balasore, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam and Deogarh and 17 dal suppliers were granted anticipatory bail today.

These persons moved the higher court fearing arrest as state vigilance department had registered case against these accused.

In mid February, state government had ordered initiation of criminal proceeding against the persons involved in the supply of dal under mid-day meal (MDM) and supplementary nutrition programme (SNP) meant for children and pregnant women.

It may be recalled that the then Women and Child Development Minister Pramilla had to tender resignation as the department was the nodal agency for these two social welfare programmes.
