Cyclone Titli aftermath: OMCs to restore fuel, LPG supply in affected districts soon
Bhubaneswar: After supply of LPG cylinders was affected due to flooding triggered by Cyclone Titli in some districts of Odisha, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) clarified that the situation will normalise within the next one or two days.
At a press conference in Bhubaneswar today, Dharmendra Kumar Behura, DGM, HPCL said “Adequate stocks of LPG cylinders, petrol and diesel were kept in cyclone affected districts. However, flooding in some of these districts caused communication failure affecting supply. The company has prioritised restoration of some damaged petrol pumps while the overall situation will be normal within a day or two.”
Behura further said “Damage to roads between Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneswar has curtailed movement of products through rakes. We are trying to restore supply in Aska and Bhanjanagar which are flooded. Damages to rooftops and other facilities at petrol stations are being restored on war-footing,” Behura added.
Meanwhile, 1500 packets of relief materials have been sent for distribution in cyclone-affected Gajapati district by various oil marketing companies (OMCs). Relief will follow to other districts as well, informed company sources.
