Cyclone Titli Aftermath: Odisha announces compensation for house damage, livestock loss
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Sunday announced to extend financial assistance to people who have suffered house damage or livestock loss during Cyclone ‘Titli’ and subsequent floods.
A financial assistance for loss of livestock will be provided at the rate of Rs 30,000 for loss of a cow and Rs 25,000 for the loss of bullock, announced joint relief commissioner, Prabhat Ranjan Mohapatra after a review meeting held on Sunday.
“A maximum compensation can be provided for three domestic animals per person. People will get Rs 30,000 for cows, Rs 25,000 for bullocks and Rs 5,000 for poultry animals,”said Mohapatra.
Mohapatra further informed that an assistance of Rs 1,01,900 for families in hilly areas, Rs 95,100 in plain areas will be provided for house building.
Apart from this, a compensation of Rs 3800 for clothes and utensil loss during the natural disasters will also be provided.
The progress of relief and restoration works which are currently underway in Cyclone Titli and flood-hit districts was reviewed during the meeting today.
“Energy restoration work in the affected districts of Rayagada and Ganjam has been completed while some work is pending in the most-affected Gajapati district which will is likely to be completed by October 23,” Mohapatra added.
