Cyclone Fani: Bollywood to bureaucrats, India stands united for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: At a time when life is yet to get back on track in several districts which were ravaged by Cyclone Fani, help continues to pour in from all quarters from Bollywood to State governments.

The visuals of Gajapati SP Sarah Sharma along with other police officials moving door to door to collect funds for relief and rehabilitation works have touched the hearts of millions of people in the State.

“We are collecting funds for cyclone Fani victims and basically it is an awareness camp. We are requesting people to voluntarily donate money, clothes, medicines and articles of daily use,” said Sharma.

Sharma further informed that such drives are being conducted at all police jurisdictions within the district. Besides, all police officers have also decided to donate one day’s salary to chief minister’s relief fund.

“We have set up a facilitation centre at the Collector’s office so that people can donate cash and articles to the chief minister’s relief fund,” said Gajapati Collector Anupam Saha.

From comedy king, Kapil Sharma to Big B Amitabh Bachchan, the entire Bollywood all have extended their support for Odisha. Madhuri Dixit, Rajkumar Rao, Boman Irani, Shilpa Shetty, Anurag Basu, Sona Mohapatra, Taapasee Pannu, Rakul Preet and others have also appealed public to donate so that Odisha can get back on its feet again.

Apart from Bollywood, several individuals and institutions in Odisha are also collecting and donating funds to the chief minister’s relief fund so that restoration works in the affected Cuttack, Puri, Bhubaneswar and other parts can be expedited.
