Bhubaneswar: As the common man continues to struggle with day-to-day life in the capital city Bhubaneswar in the aftermath of cyclone Fani which battered several coastal districts of Odisha, scenes of top officials of the Odisha government getting preferential treatment during these times of distress have raised eyebrows.

Basic amenities like water supply have taken a big hit in the Smart City with protests erupting at several places. Four days since the ill-fated cyclone, most areas of the capital city have started to experience acute water shortage. The condition has become so severe that people of other districts staying in Bhubaneswar for jobs and other purposes have started to leave the city for their native places to tackle these hard times.

Amid these harsh times, water tankers of PHD supplying tank-loads of water at the residences of most senior IAS officers on Capital Hospital-Sishu Bhawan square stretch has now irked many.

Asked about the VIP treatment to the babus, driver of a public water tanker said, “We are doing as instructed by the senior officials.”
