Cuttack: The Cuttack milk-product traders association today decided to increase product prices from February 15.

At a meeting here under the leadership of the traders' association chief Subash Behera, it was decided that the wholesale prices of cheese, paneer and raw khowa will be increased by Rs 10 each per kg.

"The wholesale price of cheese has been fixed at Rs 115 per kg, paneer at Rs 140 per kg and raw khowa will be sold at Rs 135 per kg from February 15," Behera said.

The wholesale price of cheese was Rs 110, paneer at Rs 130 and raw khowa at Rs 125 per kg respectively. The retail prices varied at different places.

Following the milk price hike by Odisha Milk Federation (Omfed) recently, milk-product traders also decided to increase prices of their products as also sweet and confectionary makers.

Reacting to the decision of the milk-product traders to increase the prices, sweet makers expressed concern and said they may have no other option than to pass-through the price hike.

"We will have no option but to increase the prices of our products accordingly," said confectionary shop owner Kusha Sahu at Nuabazaar here.

According to an estimate, nearly 2500 milk traders supply milk and milk products and on an average one lakh litre of milk and 30 to 40 tonne of cheese and paneer are consumed daily in Cuttack city alone.
