Cuttack: In a landmark ruling, a Fast Track court here today directed the Cuttack collector to conduct the Cuttack Odia Baptist Church elections and complete the process of forming its new council for the term 2012-15 within three months.
The Cuttack civil judge, senior division, Bidhan Kumar Chand directed the present and old councils to handover all assets of the church to the newly elected council. The collector has been directed to prepare a new voters list by removing all the anomalies in consultation with the present and old council members. The court also made it clear that in case of any dispute arising in preparation of the voters list, the decision of the collector shall be final and binding.
The elections to the council of the church ran into trouble during the 2006 elections when a senior member objected to the voters list saying it had not been updated by deleting the names of the dead or others who left the church.
