Koraput: Students of Central University of Odisha (CUO) in Koraput who were on strike alleging several irregularities at the varsity since the last six days called off their agitation on Wednesday after being assured of fulfilling some of their demands.

"The vice-chancellor held discussion with the students at Koraput and it was decided that their demand of appointment of lecturers, canteen facility and bus services to the varsity will be fulfilled on a priority basis. Their strike has been called off," said public relation officer of CUO Phagunath Bhoi.

Alleging that the administrative activities has taken a beating at the varsity, the students were on dharana for the last six days demanding permanent staying of vice-chancellor and the registrar at Koraput instead of their present staying at Bhubaneswar among their other demands.

Firm on not to discuss their demands with any other varsity officials except the vice-chancellor, the students had threatened to observe CUO`s foundation day on Wednesday as a Black Day.
