Kandhamal: The 8th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) busted a Maoist camp during a combing operation at Radha and Hatipeda forests range under Kotgarh police limits in the district today. Several articles used by the red rebels have been seized from the spot, sources said.

Acting on a tip-off regarding the presence and movement of Maoists in the region, the CRPF personnel had carried out a massive combing operation inside the forests. It is suspected that the rebels abandoned the camp sensing trouble.

Earlier on February 21, the CRPF jawans had busted a Maoist camp during a combing operation at Tuluba forest in Niyamgiri Hills under Kalyansinghpur of Rayagada district. A huge cache of explosives including a tiffin bomb, 15 detonators, 15 gelatine sticks and other articles were seized from the spot.

On February 17, a team of CRPF jawans had busted a Maoist camp during a combing operation at Gandhamardhan hills of Patnagarh of Bolangir district.

Several articles including some diaries, uniforms, Maoist literature and other items used by red rebels were seized. Sources said that all the articles were stuffed in a box and hidden inside a cave-like structure.
