In a major boost to security and development efforts, the national flag was hoisted in the Maoist-affected Langalkata area under Koida block of Odisha’s Sundargarh district, marking the inauguration of a new CRPF camp. The camp has been set up near the Odisha–Jharkhand border in the sensitive region of Relhatu panchayat.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Western Range DIG Brijesh Rai, Rourkela SP Nitesh Wadhwani, CRPF Commandant Mahesh Vishwakarma, Bonai Sub-Collector Akshay Pille, and SDPO Ramachandra Biswal.
Speaking at the event, DIG Rai said the establishment of the CRPF camp would strengthen search and combing operations in the region and help restore peace and normalcy. He added that the increased presence of security forces would pave the way for development and stability in the once violence-hit area.
“When DGP and ADGP visited the area, they noticed a security vacuum in the region. So they directed to establish a forward operation base in the region. We are hopeful that the camp will improve the sense of security of the area,” said Rai.

Officials said the move reflects the Odisha government’s continued efforts to counter Maoist activities and bring remote tribal areas into the mainstream of progress and governance.
