Berhampur: A crocodile which had taken refuge in a pond and created panic at Dharakote town in Odisha's Ganjam district was captured by fishermen and forest staff, officials said today.

The six-feet crocodile which was captured yesterday, would be released in the Ghodhahada reservoir near Digapahandi, a habitat for the species, Forest Range Officer, Aska NC Dora.

"The crocodile did not attack humans. It was also not injured while being captured," the forest ranger said.

Forest officials suspected the crocodile might have arrived from the Ghodahada reservoir to the pond during the flood on October 20 after the cyclone Phailin hit the district on October 12.
