Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch on Friday arrested Jamshed, one of the key accused in the pangolin smuggling racket in Odisha. Wanted in two cases in Madhya Pradesh, Jamshed was arrested from Berhampur.

STF IG Yatindra Koyal informed that Jamshed also used to finance the illegal wildlife racket and has links with smugglers inother parts of the country. He used to traffick pangolins from different parts of Odisha to other parts of the country.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that Jamshed used to finance the pangolin racket which extends to Myanmar and China,” said Koyal.

Earlier, a pangolin smuggler identified as Samsuddin Khan and his son Allarakha of Khurda were arrested in connection with the pangolin smuggling racket in June last year.

Later in July, the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch arrested Laltten Kujungku, a key operative and mastermind from Mizoram basing on the inputs shared by Samsuddin Khan.
