Crime Branch EOW to probe financial fraud by Golden Baba

Bhubaneswar: Tightening its noose around Jyoti Ranjan Beura alias 'Golden Baba', the Commissionerate Police has recommended the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch to investigate alleged financial fraud against his name.

The Twin City police has written the Crime Branch to probe into all angles of the financial fraud committed by Beura.

The Chandraskeharpur police had arrested Beura on December 31 in connection with a fraud of Rs 12 crore.

A total of four cases have been registered at different police stations in Bhubaneswar against the accused. Two cases have been filed with the Chandrasekharpur police, one each at Laxmisagar and Saheed Nagar police stations.

Apart from this, there are allegations of inter-state fraud against Beura as some people from as far as Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh have levelled charges against the accused.

Few days back the Chhatra Congress had alleged about Beura's links with some leaders of the ruling-BJD. Sources said, that the EOW is also likely to probe into the alleged link between Beura and political leaders.
