Bhubaneswar: Alleging Odisha government’s failure in putting a check on incidents of crime against women, the BJP Mahila Morcha today announced to launch a five-day long State-wide agitation from tomorrow. Condemning the recent acquittal of two accused in Pipili gang rape and murder case, BJP Mahila Morcha leader Prabhati Parida informed that the party will collect bangles from women across Odisha from tomorrow and send it to Naveen Niwas as a mark of protest.

“As part of the BJP’s ‘Jabab Maguchi Odisha’ campaign, the party’s Mahila Morcha will hold programmes in various parts of the State. Several rape accused have been acquitted in the past and demonstrations will be staged in front of residences of all MLAs across Odisha,” said Parida.

While awareness will be raised in connection with the atrocities against women through sand art from tomorrow, prayers meeting in the presiding temples of all assembly constituencies across Odisha will be held on January 15, Parida added.

On the other hand, BJD spokesperson Prashanta Nanda said, “They do not have any issues left and digging the past matters. Instead of politicising issues, the BJP should think about the welfare of the people.”
