In a major relief for fans and the Jatra fraternity, a Bhubaneswar court has lifted the interim restraining order against popular Jatra actor Piyush Tripathy, allowing him to resume stage performances with immediate effect.
With the court’s approval, Piyush Tripathy is set to return to the Jatra stage from today, bringing cheer to theatre lovers who had been eagerly awaiting his comeback. His counsel informed that the court granted permission after reviewing the matter and hearing arguments from both sides.
Piyush Tripathy is widely known for his powerful dialogue delivery and emotionally charged performances, often evoking both laughter and tears from audiences. His return is being seen as a significant development in the Jatra circuit, where he enjoys a strong fan following.
Background of the Case
Earlier, the Bhubaneswar court had imposed an interim restriction on the actor’s stage appearances following allegations of violation of a two-year contractual agreement. The complaint was filed by Surya Mandir Natya Anushthan on the 5th of last month, after which the court had barred him from performing in Jatra shows.
The interim order had temporarily halted his professional engagements, causing disappointment among fans and concern within the theatre community.
Court’s Ruling
After hearing submissions from both parties, the court decided to lift the interim restraining order imposed on Piyush Tripathy. With the legal restriction removed for the time being, the actor is now free to resume his stage performances.

His lawyer, Ajay Kumar Gadnayak, confirmed that the interim restraining order had been lifted and that the Court permitted the actor to perform on the Jatra stage.
The development marks a positive turn for Piyush Tripathy and his admirers, who are now eagerly looking forward to witnessing his return to live performances.
