Bhubaneswar/Parlakhemundi:  In a move that could expedite the release of abducted Laxmipur MLA Jhina Hikaka, the Gajapati district and sessions court on Monday granted bail to Arati Majhi in two cases. Six others including Lajar Majhi, Shyam Majhi, Babula Behar Dalai, Jasalla Majhi, Jakad Majhi and Patra Majhi have also been granted bail by the court.

Eight cases were filed against these at Adaba police station for setting buses on fire and destroying mobile phone tower at Raipanka, and ablazing police van in landmine blast at Andharighati.

Earlier on April 16, Arati applied for bail for the second time following a bail rejection by the court on April 12. On Saturday Srikakulam-Koraput Committee of the CPI (Maoist) leader Daya in a letter released to a section of media said that they demand release of all members of CMAS who are in jail.

Daya`s letter came a day after the Andhra Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of CPI (Maoist) spokesman Jagabandhu in an audio message said the fate of the abducted MLA would be decided at a Praja Court (People’s Court) to be held by April 25.

The state government however already cleared its stand that it would initiate all possible steps for the safe release of the tribal legislator.
