Court convicts eight persons of house burning, looting

Phulbani: A local court in Kandhamal district has convicted eight persons of house burning and looting during 2008 ethno-communal riots. Additional Sessions Judge, First Track Court No 1, S K Dash on Wednesday convicted the eight persons and sentenced them to five years of rigorous imprisonment.

The judge pronounced the judgement while disposing a case relating to burning of houses belonging to minority community at a village under Daringbadi police station area of Kandhamal.

According to the prosecution, the eight people had attacked the houses of the minority community people on August 26, 2008.
