4 held in VSP honcho’s murder case

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate of Police today arrested four in connection with Vizag steel plant AGM Surya Prasad Rao’s murder case and police are suspecting more involvement in the crime.

In a startling revelation, Commisionerate Police yesterday revealed that a gang of racketeers are behind the gruesome murder of top Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) official here four days ago.

The police also said that the gang comprises members hailing from both Odisha and neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, where Rao hailed from. While more than four persons are allegedly involved in the murder.

After reaching Bhubaneswar, Rao put up at Kananvihar Guest House. However, the room was booked under someone else’s name. Rao checked out of the guest house on the subsequent morning, the police further said.

A team of Vishakhapatnam police is in the city to investigate the matter.

Rao was found lying dead on Monday morning near the Army School in Veer Surendra Sai Nagar here. Preliminary investigations indicated towards murder angle based on the injury marks on his body.

An air ticket was found from his pocket, based on which the deceased’s address and the purpose of his visit were ascertained by the police.
