Baripada: A Constable of 5th Battalion in Baripada was allegedly thrashed by his associates and three other senior officers on the premises of the Battalion on Saturday. The injured Constable, identified as Kalicharan Kisku, has been admitted to Baripada hospital.

As per the allegations of Kisku, the incident took place when he was on Quarters Guard duty in the afternoon yesterday. After his duty was over, he went to a nearby pan stall to have water where one Assistant Commandant questioned him about remaining outside the Battalion during the duty hours.

The senior officer then called other officers and all of them thrashed him mercilessly till he went into a state of unconsciousness, alleged Kisku.
Soon after the incident, Kisku lodged a complaint with the Sadar police. "The three officers thrashed me with ‘lathis’. I am afraid now to work there anymore. I am a resident of Baripada but still I am scared of them. They will kill me," cried Kisku.

Meanwhile, his colleagues also filed a counter case against him at the Sadar police station alleging him of attacking a few personnel of the Battalion with the help of locals.

Constable Major BC Bhattar alleged that Kalicharan along with a few locals thrashed him as the latter had a grudge against him over some issues. Bhattar, who has also been admitted to the hospital, said "I was near Gate No- 5 when Kisku, along with a few other locals beat me up and injured me. Somehow, I managed to save myself from their clutches and rushed to the Battalion and informed other officials about the matter."
