Jajpur: A police constable who allegedly sodomised a 13-year-old school boy was arrested today in Odisha's Jajpur district.
He was arrested after the mother of the victim lodged a complaint with the Jenapur police station alleging that the constable, Suvendu Malik, had sodomised her son, a student of class VIII, late on Sunday evening by taking him to a secluded place
The boy cried in pain and some people who were passing nearby rushed to the spot after hearing his scream and rescued him, the police said quoting the FIR.
The victim's mother of Jenapur village met the inspector-in-charge of the police station with her son accompanied by villagers on Sunday night to register the complaint.
The constable had been placed under suspension, said Deepak Kumar, Superintendent of Police of Jajpur. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody after his bail application was rejected, he said.
