Bhubaneswar: Aimed at winning the confidence of people of Odisha ahead of the crucial polls, Congress today released its manifesto with 19 key promises to provide a new and smart future. PCC chief Niranjan Patnaik released the party's manifesto.

Going with party's ambitious plan to eliminate poverty, the Congress has announced to provide every family from the poorest 20 percent of the population with a minimum income of Rs 72,000 per year (Rs 6,000 per month).

The Odisha Congress has also promised employment for all while the jobless will be entitled to get an allowance of Rs 3,000 per month.

While releasing the party's manifesto, Niranjan said all contractual workers in the public sector will be regularised while there shall be no contractual employment in teaching, healthcare and social security services.

A 5-year plan will be unveiled to provide homestead land to every landless family in a village and shelter for every urban homeless family.

"Congress will waive off farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh, financial assistance of Rs 10,000 for 3 years, Rs 2,600 MSP for paddy, month pension of Rs 1500 for farmers above 60 years while sharecroppers will also get benefits," said Patnaik.

Patnaik further stated that there will be a guaranteed remunerative price for all major farm and forest produce and Rs 1 lakh-Krushak Samman Puraskar for the most enterprising and innovative farmer in every block in the State.
