Cuttack: Congress MLA from Salepur, Prakash Behera caught everyone’s attention today during a show-of-strength rally in Salepur which was organised sans party flag. The development comes on the backdrop of speculations that the MLA is planning to quit the Congress camp.

Hundreds of supporters of Behera participated in the rally which started from Peer Bazar area culminated at Salepur. Speaking on the occasion, Behera said, he does not believe in troubling people in the name of cheap party politics.

“We are being elected by the people and for the people. So it is our responsibility to ensure that if we do politics then it should be aimed towards the development of our people and the constituency,” said the MLA.

When asked about the rally, Odisha Congress chief, Niranjan Patnaik said “A party defines an individual, but an individual does not define a party. Just like that public is important and not an individual.”

It may be noted that the MLA had recently heaped praises on the ruling-BJD fuelling speculations that he might also join the exodus and leave the Congress for the ruling party.
