Malkangiri: Congress MLA candidate from Malkangiri, Mala Madhi on Thursday admitted his mistake for taking out a party procession with vehicles, mike and loudspeaker to file nomination papers on March 18 without taking permission from Election Commission.

Madhi in his response to a show-cause notice issued by Malkangiri Sub-collector, stated that the previous day of filling his nomination papers, he had intimated the Sub-collector and IIC, Malkangiri orally about his decision to take out a rally but since it was a holiday i.e. Sunday, he could not apply for written permission for the programme.

“Not submitting a written application by me before one day of rally permission was not intentional and I assure you I will not commit such type of mistake in future,” stated Madhi.

On Monday, Madhi had allegedly taken out a huge procession while going to file nomination papers from 146-Malkangiri Assembly Constituency for upcoming general elections without taking permission from competent authority.

Based on the allegations, the Sub-collector of Malkangiri, acting as Returning Officer in Assembly segment had served show-cause notice as to why action should not be taken against him for violation of poll code norms.
