Bhubaneswar: Eleven days post Cyclone Fani, the State government is hoodwinking the residents of affected districts by presenting misleading data on restoration of power and water supply, alleged Congress on Monday.

Highlighting the government’s alleged failure in tackling Fani, Congress spokesperson Prashant Satapathy during a presser yesterday said that restoration work is yet to be carried out in several affected parts. "Every day the government is presenting figures and percentage of areas on restoration work. A blatant lie is being presented by the government," he said.

“Instead, the government should provide information on how many affected families were provided with cooked food, drinking water and power. This will make people of the State rest assured,” Satapathy added.

This apart, he claimed that the government has failed to mobilise enough workers to Puri where trucks carrying relief materials are waiting for unloading.

Satapathy further alleged that the government officials are creating hurdles in tree-cutting, as such trees uprooted in the severe cyclonic storm are still lying on the roads in rural belts.

However, comments from the government on the issue could not be obtained despite repeated attempts.
