Nabarangpur: The district unit of Congress has accused the ruling-BJD of violating the model code of conduct in the district by distributing sarees in Dabugaon area of Nabarangpur district.

In a presser on Monday, the local Congress leaders showed some photographs in which BJD MLA Manohar Randhari was seen distributing sarees to the people. The party further alleged that the sarees were transported in a vehicle, the number plate of which was changed.

“BJD has violated the model code of conduct in the district. Few hours ahead of the declaration of the election dates, workers of the BJD bought many packets of sarees from a shop and transported it in a gas cylinder-carrying van to Dabugaon for distribution. We have all the proof with us,” cliamed Nabarangpur District Congress president, Muna Tripathy.

Besides, Tripathy also alleged that even after implementation of model code of conduct, hoardings and banners advertising various Central and State Governments schemes are yet to be removed in the district.

BJD leaders could not be contacted to respond to the allegations.
