Kendrapara: Congress activists led by party MLA from Aul Debendra Sharma showed black flags ahead of Commerce and Transport Minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu's visit to Aul today while protesting massive irregularities in distribution of ration cards under the food security scheme in the district.

As per reports, hundreds of Congress activists under the leadership of Sharma took to streets and waved black flags at Niala chhak.

“Massive irregularities have taken place in the distribution of ration cards. The poor beneficiaries have been excluded from the list, rather the rich have been provided with ration cards and the activists of the ruling party are looting different beneficiary schemes” said Congress MLA Debendra Sharma.

Apprehending any law and order situation, police officials present at the spot have detained hundreds of the activists including the MLA.

Reportedly, the minister was on his way to inaugurate the state government’s food security scheme in the Aul and Rajakanika blocks of the district.

However no comments could be obtained from the ruling BJD over the matter.
