Bhubaneswar: Dubbing the BJD government in the state as "inefficient and corrupt", Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Monday launched a state-wide agitation seeking ouster of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

"The government headed by Naveen Patnaik has ruined the state in the last 12 years and has put it on a path of irreversible socio-economic losses. The law and order situation in the state is at an all-time low and causing fear among people," OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik alleged.

Today's protest and block gheraos is a testimony to peoples' growing anxiety, he claimed, adding though UPA government has given consistent support to Odisha, the state has failed to provide even basic facilities to the people of the state.

OPCC criticised the state government for trying to capitalise on Centre's funds.

"Naveen Patnaik has announced Rs 1 per kg rice for the poor and disabled. UPA government has been providing food support to poor families under the Targeted Public Distribution System, but we are pained to find that the 35 kgs rice has not been reaching the beneficiaries," the opposition party said.
