Bhubaneswar: Opposition Congress on Friday sought a clarification from Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the Odisha Assembly on the recently published National Sample Survey (NSSO) report which says that 14 lakh people are underfed in the state. 
 
"We demand a clarification from the Chief Minister on the issue of hunger,"  said Bhupinder Singh, Leader of Opposition  in the Assembly during zero hour.
 
Raising the issue during zero hour, Congress member Santosh Singh Saluja said while the Central government was providing 35 kg rice to the BPL families in the state how come four per cent of the total rural population numbering around 14 lakh were not getting two meals a day.
 
The NSSO report also found that two lakh pepole used to  migrate to other states in search of jobs and tribals were victims of hunger.
 
The report which was published two days back said as per the 2011 census nearly 3.5 crore people of Odisha were staying in rural areas and out of it around 13.98 lakh people were not getting adequate food to eat.
