Sambalpur: A local court has granted conditional bail to suspended BJD leader Sisir Kumar Dandia, allegedly involved in attack on students of VSS Medical College at Burla last month which sparked off ceasework agitation by the medics.

After Dandia, facing a non-bailable warrant surrendered before the court on Friday, Sub-divisional executive magistrate Bisweswar Bhoi granted him bail on submission of two personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each and two sureties of equal amount each. Besides, he singed a bond before the court that if he was found involved in any crime within next one year, the bail granted would become infructuous.

Dandia was the town BJD president at Burla and was suspended from the party following the incident. A non-bailable warrant was pending against Dandia for his alleged involvement in violence and breaking the law in pubic places at Burla. He was also charged with attack on the students of VSS Medical College at Burla on September 4.

Demanding his arrest under National Security Act(NSA)) and removal of his house from the encroached land in the medical college hospital premises, students of three medical college had resorted to strike.
