Bhubaneswar: In a major development, the State Higher Education Department has decided to conduct a common examination from the next academic year, i.e. 2020, for admission into post graduate (PG) courses in colleges and universities across Odisha.

The decision was taken during the 4th vice chancellors' conclave chaired by Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo in Bhubaneswar today.

Informing about the common entrance examination, the Higher Education Minister said that students won’t have to write multiple examinations for different universities. Instead there will be only one examination which will be conducted on the same day across the State.

“From 2020 academic year, PG admissions across Odisha colleges and universities will be through unified entrance exam. Results of Plus-III exams will be published by varsities before June 15 every year," said Sahoo after a meeting with the vice-chancellors.

Speaking about the common entrance examination, VC of Fakir Mohan University, Madhumita Das said, “This is an excellent step. We welcome this as there are no drawbacks in it.”
