Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police is contemplating to bring Sanjay Kumar Nishank, who was recently arrested for his involvement in a series of burglaries in Bhubaneswar, on remand to ascertain his involvement in other crimes.

Stolen property to the tune of nearly Rs 60 lakh including gold and silver ornaments were recovered from his possession.

Sources said the cops are keen to elicit more information regarding Sanjay's modus operandi and the techniques adopted to commit crimes.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Sanjay learnt the theft skills from internet and basically targeted the houses when during evening hours, festival and holidays, informed DCP Anup Sahu.

Sahu further informed that 12 cases have been registered against Sanjay and from the stolen items recovered it is suspected that he is also involved in a number of other cases.

After Sanjay's arrest on July 26, several CCTV footages showing him stealing at various places in Bhubaneswar are doing rounds in social media.

Police said the accused, Sanjay Kumar Nishank of Atri village under Khurda police limits had completed his BBA. However, he started committing burglary after he was fired from his job earlier this year.

Gold ornaments weighing 778 grams, 800 grams of silver ornaments, 43 mobile phones, 26 laptops and several household articles were recovered from his possession.
