Bhubaneswar: With HIV/AIDS still posing a severe threat, the only way to fight is creating awareness. Realising the importance of a united fight, OTV is all set to host its annual mini-marathon tomorrow to raise awareness on HIV AIDS.
Commanding officer of 120 Infantry Battalion, Lt.Colonel JS Bhadoria will flag off the 10th edition of the mini-marathon from 7th Battalion field near Kalinga Hospital at 6:30 AM tomorrow. “I welcome OTV’s initiative as prevention is the only option to stay protected,” said Bhadoria.
Bhubaneswar AIIMS Director, B. Geetanjali said “I think OTV is doing a great job by organising mini-marathon which shows that it is committed towards the health and wellness of people.”
Former football player, Shradhanjali Samataray also urged people of Odisha to participate in OTV mini-marathon. This year the mini-marathon’s theme is ‘Know Your Status’ as it can play a crucial role to keep the deadly disease at bay.
“Everybody should know about their status regarding HIV /AIDS to be aware and spread awareness,” said Director of Odisha State AIDS Control Board, Sanjay Patnaik.
OTV has been organizing the mini-marathon on the occasion of World AIDS Day on December 1, since 2009. Last year, thousands, mostly youths from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and other parts of the State had participated in the event.
