College girl dies in road mishap, NH traffic paralyzed
Ahalya Sethy, a second year degree student of the Laxmi Narayan Sahu College was killed and her friend Rashmita Mallick was seriously injured by the speeding bus which hit them from behind, police sources said.
A large number of students from the college set up a road blockade with the body of the dead student demanding Rs 10 lakh for her family and Rs five lakh for her friend.
The students damaged ten vehicles and demanded a speed breaker should immediately be built at the spot.
The students dispersed after City DCP S Praveen Kumar and local legislator Pravat Biswal arrived and assured them that the state government would be approached for awarding the compensation.
