Cuttack: All Puja committees of Cuttack, famous for its Durga Puja celebrations, have been asked to make their mandaps "disabled-friendly" in the coming festival next month.
 
At a preparatory meeting here yeserday, Cuttack collector and president of the Cuttack Mahanagar Puja Committee Girish S N urged organizers to ensure that the 150-odd puja mandaps of the city have separate entrances for the physically challenged, old and women devotees to offer pujas.
 
He said that the puja committees should also ensure that their mandaps are free from plastics and polythene as well.
 
It was revealed in the meeting that the city this year would witness a total of 155 mandaps, of which Goddess Durga would be worshipped in at least 75 places.
 
While the Pujas would begin on October 10 with ?Mahasashthi?, the colorful immersion festival called ?Bhasani? would be observed on October 15.
 
The members urged the administration to ensure that the city roads are refurbished immediately to facilitate the mandap hoppers.
