Bhubaneswar: Phulbani recorded a lowest of 7 degree Celsius while the temperature plummeted below 12 degree celsius in ten other districts as cold wave swept most parts of Odisha on Friday. While Daringibadi shivered at 8.5 degrees, the minimum temperature recorded in the State Capital was 13 degree Celsius.

With the temperature dropping drastically in last two to three days across Odisha, the State government has issued cold wave alert. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast that night temperature is likely to fall further by 2 to 3 degrees at several places in the next 3-4 days.

The Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi has alerted all collectors to keep a close watch and take necessary action to deal with the cold wave situation.

"All collectors are requested to keep a close watch and take appropriate steps to deal with the cold wave situation. Necessary advisory with Dos and Don'ts to protect human beings and livestock from cold wave may be widely circulated," Sethi was quoted as saying in SRC's Facebook post.

Meanwhile, normal life has been affected due to the intense cold wave in several parts of the state.
