Cold wave returns to Odisha as temperatures like to fall sharply in next 2 to 3 days
Cold weather is set to make a comeback across the state, with temperatures expected to fall once again from today. As cloud cover gradually clears, the mercury is likely to drop further, leading to an increase in cold conditions, the Meteorological Department has said.
According to the forecast, the minimum night temperature may fall by around 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next two to three days. With no significant change expected even after that period, the state may once again experience severe cold conditions, potentially affecting daily life, especially during night and early morning hours.
Earlier, temperatures had recorded a slight rise due to upper-level cloud cover associated with an active deep depression system. As a result, the intensity of cold had reduced from Saturday night onwards. However, meteorologists now predict that with the weakening of the system and the clearing of clouds, cold conditions will intensify again from today.
The Meteorological Department has advised people to remain cautious, particularly vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and those exposed to outdoor conditions during night and early morning hours, as the cold spell is likely to persist in the coming days.
